Enlightenment

Hello!

I’d just like to clarify the purpose of my blog among other things for those who wish to know. We’ll make it a Q&A.

Who are you?

I’m just a lowly hunter on a crappy (and expensive) PvE server called Shandris. Why? Because I found a nice guild there with hours I can maintain and a group of people I enjoy progressing with. I am not so competitive with the game that I would sacrifice humanity for rank. Not to say it’s wrong to be competitive, it simply is not how I choose to pursue my goals.

What do you do and why?

I play a Marksman hunter for no other reason than the fact that I believe it is fun and interesting. I enjoy making the most of it and learning all I can about different talents and abilities. I believe that no matter how long you’ve played the game, there’s always something to learn if you have an open mind, and I’ve always loved and appreciated learning.

What are these silly tests you’re running?

The tests I’ve posted and will continue to post on my site are nothing more than little experiments done to further increase my knowledge of the MM tree and abilities. They are not meant to absolutely prove any one thing, nor do I claim they are 100% accurate and perfect. I do my best to control what I can, but this game has a firm base in chance, and nothing is perfect. I post the tests first and foremost for my own record, to get a clearer outlook of the results and details, and to enable myself to come to my own conclusions with all data in front of me. As with any scientific theory, they are simply theories and should never be taken for fact. The best and ONLY way to find out more about something is to test it yourself. No matter what you read, here or elsewhere, you are the only person who can find what works for you. You can have all the doubts and stubborness in the world, but until you unbiasedly run experiments of your own, you’ll simply never know.

Why do you even have a blog if you write it for yourself?

Firstly, because as I’ve said, it gives me easy access to all records as well as reminds me of what may have happened in the past. I enjoy writing immensely, and a blog is a great outlet. Secondly, I love having feedback from others; one person is easily biased, and sometimes another mind will help you realize something you would’ve overlooked before. It’s fantastic to have actual challenges from folks, to make me think and even reconstruct ideas with extra input. When other people approach me with their own data, their numbers and results and strategies, it creates a great atmosphere to work and learn. However, as with anything scientific, a belief is only a poorly constructed hypothesis, and unless there is actual factual backup to a claim, I will not accept lonely words as input.

I think you’re crap, your data is crap, and you suck at all things WoW.

Thanks for your opinion. The great thing about opinion is that once stated, it never need be mentioned again unless something changes. Keep that in mind. However, if you wish to deconstruct my entire blog bit by bit to explain and show evidence of the theory that I am 100% incorrect and a terrible player, THAT information I welcome with an open mind. You never know what you can learn from someone willing to take the time to teach the right way.

I’ve told you a million times how wrong, wrong, WRONG! you are; why won’t you accept it, you stubborn whore?

Among other things, chances are, you didn’t back up your claim. Bold statements made in complete confidence without actual evidence or examples are just that : statements. Simple opinions about information others may have gathered. As far as I can tell, I have attempted (“physically” and mathematically) to find the desired information, and Bold Statement Man has not. Show me your own personal data or data from someone who has run the tests and I would love to speak with you about it and compare. Remember – Debate, however exciting it may be, is not science. Argument for the sake of argument proves nothing and wastes much time.

How can I improve my gameplay in WoW?

Certainly not by believing everything I post. As I’ve said, I value knowledge and learning, and those two things are ever changing, infinite. If you want to improve your gameplay, read everything you can find regarding your subject. Everything. Leave nothing out, no matter how ridiculous it may sound. Speak with others, even those who seem to have less experience than you. And most importantly, test things for yourself. I don’t care if it’s the God of Warcraft himself who claims knowledge – you will not know until you try it yourself. Trust yourself, but not too much. Have confidence, but be graceful. Share what you find with others as they have done with you. And for the love of all things holy, leave pride out of it. This is how you improve your gameplay (and a lot of other aspects of your life, if you wish to apply them). No matter how skilled and experienced you are, there is always something to learn from someone else, and the truly wise seek wisdom from all sources. Humble yourself, keep an open mind, and don’t make claims you have no intention of attempting to prove, and you will go far.

What do you look like? Can you post a picture?

I look like a cross between my mother and my father. However, my appearance has no relevance to this blog, so I will not be posting photos of myself in real life. You will, however, see many shots of my character, and that is all you need. If you wish to speak with me regarding WoW or anything else, you always have the option of emailing me at Dairina321@gmail.com. If I’m interested in what you have to say or have an answer to your question, I’ll write you back when I can. If you wish to harass me, you will simply be blocked. My age, race, sexual orientation, appearance, and religion have no connection to this blog, and I ask that you do not pose questions regarding these things, privately or publicly. If I wish to disclose personal information, I will do so. On another note, if you insult me, I am only human, and my human instincts to defend and ignore will show themselves. Try bringing information to me in an unemotional, respectful way and you will see a much better response.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and thank you for your respect. I love the fact that so many stop by, and love even more when people are engaged enough to write to me and even converse with me. You, the readers, are much appreciated, and I hope you get all you can from my humble site. Please continue to check back for updates, and as always, I love your feedback.

❤ Nass

  1. SO glad you like to write because I like to READ. Thanks for the well-written bio. And the fact that you write for yourself makes your blog more interesting. I want to read what others are doing/thinking about, not what they think I want to do/think about. I tell my wife (who is a pleaser) when she’s faced with a choice that might affect others; if you please yourself, at least you know 1 person will be happy, if you try to guess what someone else wants, often nobody will be happy. Pleasing yourself is 100% win (assuming you’re adhering to the golden rule of doing unto others). And it also opens up the often-ignored question of “What DO I want?”

  2. Thank you for your comment! 🙂 I’m glad you enjoy the site. I agree wholeheartedly that these things (and by these I mean games and artistic inclinations) are for personal pleasure and nothing else. I hope you continue to read my thoughts and post your own.

  3. You seem full of crap and sucky at WoW, even for a girl. May I see a picture of you?

  4. Every guild has one: A guy wanting to see pics. Personally, the guild theme for me is NakedNeg.com (still in development).

  5. One guy? Shit our guild is full of people who want to see Nassira.. But will she show us??? Nooooo….

    BTW, Nass is the shit!

  6. As a MM hunter I’m a daily reader of your blog.
Thanks for the tests you run.
    Keep up good work.

  7. I have to admit to being a bit obsessed with theorycrafting myself. I have lost ocunt of the gold I have spent on respeccing to try things out!
I am in the unusual situation of being a proud owner of a spirit beast pet but keep it in the stables as I have gone back to my first love, the MM tree.
I enjoy reading your blog, along with many others I check on a daily basis. I am always looking for new information on how to make myself the best hunter I can be. Given the stigma attached to hunters and the fact that I live in Scotland but play on US Servers getting heroic or raid groups is hard, so being able to prove my ability comes in very handy when persuading people to invite me!

  8. LOL nakedneg.com Rock on.

Thanks Wild, I ❤ you too. But stop asking, I won’t cyber you.

Yahim: Thank you for your comment, and thanks for reading!

Bytor: MM is just too fun to pass up. Thanks for reading, and good luck finding decent groups! You can always come to Shandris. 😉

  9. Most of my closer circle of in-game friends have all seen pics of each other by now. Not really to show off though, but to make fun of ourselves or each other. XD

  10. Hi Pike! I’ve missed you. ❤ You were my very first commenter! Wildsea lies, I’ve met him and a few others outside the game, and I’ve posted pics in the forums (but just for fun, I blot my face out of those, keeps the mystery running).

  11. Where can I subscribe to your feed? I don’t see an icon for it.

  12. With my blog, it was an option that I selected while setting up the WP stuff.
